Kids Helping Kids

` Blain's Farm & Fleet has once again held their Kids Helping Kids fundraising event.  The Kids Helping Kids event collected over $3000 in cash which will be split between ECHO and the Rock County Salvation Army.   This event also collected two truckloads of toys, food, and personal hygiene items for those organizations.  The need is great this year. Hackett Elementary Students Receive Books

` To say that this year has been a challenging year on many levels would be an understatement.  No where is that more accurate than in our local schools.  With many students virtual this school year, having the right tools to learn from home can be difficult for many.I'm honored that I was was able to support 23 elementary students at Beloit's Hackett Elementary.  Not only do many of these students come from low income/high poverty backgrounds, but they also  face challenges both inside the classroom and at home.I hope with this donation of books geared toward their reading level, that the child... Bike Elves Keep Giving

Helping the Homeless - Family Promise of Greater Beloit

Alternatives to Violence Shelter

` The YWCA Rock County has several programs in place to assist families. The Alternatives to Violence Shelter assists domestic violence victims in crisis, often with only the clothes they are wearing.  The YWCA provides beds, linens, food, clothing and personal care items in a 33 bed shelter.  I recently had the privilege of assisting this program by donating over 3500 diapers, wipes and formula to benefit the youngest clients in the shelter.    Read More

` I am honored to have been named President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates for 2020.  The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) is an organization devoted to preserving the trial by jury system and provides educational presentations to members of the State Bar for the purpose of improving the advocacy skills of all lawyers. Membership in ABOTA is by invitation only. Friends of Noah

` I am proud to continue being a volunteer and Silver Sponsor with Friends of Noah in 2020.  Friends of Noah is a volunteer based, non-profit, cat and dog rescue.  In addition to finding homes for stray and abandoned animals, they also work with the community to change the conditions that lead to homeless pets.  They distribute over 20000 pounds of food annually and educate the community about animal safety and compassion.  Learn more about Friends of Noah here.  Read More

Rock County Homeless Get A Helping Hand

Staff Gives Back to Twin Oaks Shelter

` My staff also enjoys giving back to the community.  Recently my paralegal, Sarah, was found volunteering her time wrapping gifts for the Twin Oaks Shelter.   Whiskey Ranch in Delavan sponsored this event.  Twin Oaks Shelter for the homeless is located in Walworth County.  In 2018, the shelter, which relies almost entirely on private donations, guided 185 people out of poverty.      Read More

Delivering Bags of Hope

` I am happy that I was able to once again assist the School District of Janesville with their Delivering Bags of Hope program.  This program delivers free groceries to those in need during the holiday season.  This is the 11th year the School District of Janesville (SDJ) has held this community food supply event. Originally founded by UAW Local 95, the school district took over the program when the GM plant closed in 2008.  Through this event, they hope to help nearly 400 families of the SDJ as well as 50 senior citizens with food and supplies to assist them in getting through the holiday seaso... Toy Drive for Rock County Chaplaincy

` Recently, I was privileged to donate toys and games valued over $500 to the Rock County Chaplaincy program.  This program helps provide toys for children up to age 16  of Rock County inmates.  Chaplaincy volunteers work with the Rock County Sheriff's Office at the jail to allow parents to select toys to be given to their children.  As stated by a past volunteer chaplain, "It's not the kids fault that the child is in jail. Homeless Youth Awareness Month

` November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.  Nationwide, 2.5 million youth experience homelessness. Making a Difference in the Community

` I recently had the privilege of helping hundreds of students in Rock County get backpacks and supplies for school.Students at Wilson Elementary in Janesville and McNeel Intermediate in Beloit received backpacks.  Homeless students beings served by Project 16:49 received backpacks and supplies.  Project 16:49 helps homeless students and unaccompanied minors in Rock County.  In Rock County alone, there are 1,200 students who are homeless and 300 students who are unaccompanied minors.  16:49 refers to the number of hours and minutes from the time the school day ends to the time the next one begin...
