Delivering Bags of Hope

` I am happy that I was able to once again assist the School District of Janesville with their Delivering Bags of Hope program.  This program delivers free groceries to those in need during the holiday season.   This is the 11th year the School District of Janesville (SDJ) has held this community food supply event. Originally founded by UAW Local 95, the school district took over the program when the GM plant closed in 2008.  Through this event, they hope to help nearly 400 families of the SDJ as well as 50 senior citizens with food and supplies to assist them in getting… Read More

Toy Drive for Rock County Chaplaincy

` Recently, I was privileged to donate toys and games valued over $500 to the Rock County Chaplaincy program.   This program helps provide toys for children up to age 16  of Rock County inmates.   Chaplaincy volunteers work with the Rock County Sheriff's Office at the jail to allow parents to select toys to be given to their children.   As stated by a past volunteer chaplain, "It's not the kids fault that the child is in jail. Homeless Youth Awareness Month

` November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.  Nationwide, 2.5 million youth experience homelessness. In Rock County alone, there are approximately 1200 youth who are homeless.   You can support the homeless in Rock County with several events happening during the month of November.     Participate in Wear Green Day.   Plan to attend the Homeless Awareness Candlelight Vigil  on November 12th at the Janesville Town Square.  This vigil will bring together members of the community and to raise awareness for homeless and the agencie… Read More

Making a Difference in the Community

` I recently had the privilege of helping hundreds of students in Rock County get backpacks and supplies for school. Students at Wilson Elementary in Janesville and McNeel Intermediate in Beloit received backpacks.  Homeless students beings served by Project 16:49 received backpacks and supplies.   Project 16:49 helps homeless students and unaccompanied minors in Rock County.  In Rock County alone, there are 1,200 students who are homeless and 300 students who are unaccompanied minors.  16:49 refers to the number of hours and minutes from the time the school da… Read More

Beloit Cares Back 2 School Bash

Janesville Towne Square Gran Prix / Kids' Roll Race

HealthNet of Rock County

` I recently had the privilege of supporting HealthNet of Rock County.  HealthNet opened in 1994 to help address the lack of affordable healthcare in Rock County. Caritas

` Caritas is a community resource center located in Beloit, Wi.  Caritas has been providing to neighbors in need for more than 40 years.  In addition to food and clothing, Caritas also takes in and redistributes thousands of diapers and wipes on a yearly basis. Community Action Inc

` I recently had the privilege of helping our friends at Twin Oaks Homeless Shelter.  Twin Oaks is operated by Community Action Inc and is run almost entirely on private donations.  In 2018, Twin Oaks guided 185 people on their pathway out of poverty by not only providing a place to stay for up to 60 days but by also building knowledge and skills in such areas as employment, budgeting, alcohol and drug awareness, mental health issues and landlord/tenant relationships.   These gifts will help families in housing take pride in their new space and get them started on a… Read More
